What Posted Price is

Posted Price shows the prices hospitals publish under federal law (45 CFR 180) and checks hospital bills against those prices and against federal coding rules. The reports and letters we prepare are templates completed with the hospital's own published data and with the information you give us.

Not legal, medical or insurance advice

We are not a law firm and do not act as your lawyer. Using Posted Price does not create an attorney–client relationship. We do not give medical advice and we are not an insurer. You decide whether to send a letter and you send it yourself; we do not negotiate with hospitals or insurers on your behalf.

Prices and estimates

Every price comes from a file the hospital published, and we show the date of that file. Hospitals can publish wrong or outdated data, and a file can change after your visit. Any estimate of what you would pay is an estimate based on the file published on the date shown, not a quote. We do not promise that a hospital or insurer will change a bill.

Your part

• Upload only bills that are yours or that you are authorized to handle, for example as a parent or with the patient's permission.
• Check the lines we read from your bill before relying on them. Automatic reading can make mistakes, and you can correct every line.
• Keep your private case link to yourself.

Bill checks during the beta

Bill checks are open by invitation while we test them. Features can change, and an invite allows a set number of checks.

Payments

The bill check is free. The detailed report costs US$29.90 and the full dispute package US$59.90, each a one-time payment processed by Stripe. If we cannot produce the documents you paid for, we refund the payment in full. Write to hello@postedprice.com with your case link.

Open data and the API

The open-data files are licensed under CC BY 4.0: you can reuse them with the attribution "Posted Price (postedprice.com)". Access to the API needs a key and is governed by the agreement that comes with it.

Use of the site

Do not try to access other people's cases, overload the site or collect data from it automatically outside the open-data files and the API.

Liability

We work to keep the data accurate and the site available, but we provide them as they are. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the case in question.
