The short version
- Browsing hospital prices needs no account and sets no tracking cookies. We run no ads and no analytics trackers.
- When you check a bill, we keep the files and details you give us only to check that bill and prepare your documents.
- Files and personal details are deleted 90 days after your case closes, after 180 days without activity, or right away when you ask.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and your files are not used to train AI models.
What we collect
- Files you upload: your hospital bill and, if you choose, your insurer's explanation of benefits (EOB) and a photo of your insurance card. These contain health and billing information.
- What you type: the hospital, dates, amounts, your insurer and kind of plan, your name as it appears on the bill (used in your letters) and, optionally, an e-mail address for deadline reminders.
- What we produce: the lines read from your bill, the findings, your letters and a timeline of your case.
- Cookies: one cookie that remembers a beta invite, and none for advertising or analytics.
- Waitlist: if you join it, your e-mail address, used once to tell you when bill checks open.
How we use it
To read your bill, compare each line with the prices the hospital published under federal law (45 CFR 180) and with federal coding rules, prepare your report and letters, and remind you of deadlines if you gave an e-mail. Nothing else.
Who processes it for us
- Anthropic reads the files you upload to extract the lines. Under its commercial terms, it does not use them to train its models.
- Render hosts the site and the database in the United States (Oregon).
- Stripe processes payments. We never see your card number.
- Resend delivers reminder e-mails, when you gave an address.
How we protect it
Uploaded files are encrypted at rest (AES-256). Your case lives at a private link: anyone with that link can open the case, so keep it private. We are not a health plan or a health care provider, so HIPAA does not apply to us directly, but we handle your files as health information all the same.
How long we keep it
Uploaded files, the text read from them, your letters and your personal details (name, e-mail, dates of service and anything you typed) are deleted 90 days after you close your case, or after 180 days without any activity. You can delete them at any time from the bottom of your case page; the private link then stops working.
After deletion we keep only anonymous numbers: the hospital, the billing codes, the amounts, the findings, the outcome and any savings you reported. We use them for statistics, such as the total amount our users saved. We never publish one person's story without their consent.
Your choices
You can delete your case yourself at any time. For anything else about your data, write to hello@postedprice.com from the e-mail on your case, or include your case link, and we will answer within 30 days.
Hospital price data
The prices on this site come from files hospitals are required to publish. They contain no patient information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date above. If a change affects how we use data you already gave us, we will tell you at the e-mail on your case, if you gave one.
